When: Thursday evenings from 6:00pm-9:00pm. 8 Weeks beginning May 1 and ending June 19.

Skill Level: Level 2. Experienced beginner to intermediate. This course is designed either for members, those able to come in during open studio hours to make pieces, those with their own studios or who can work at home, or those enrolled in another class. Students will not be making work in class but rather focusing on surface decorating techniques on the pieces, tiles, or slabs they have prepared for class.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
Expand your skills and learn new techniques for decorating and surfacing your work. In this level 2 class students will learn to go beyond just glazing and will dig deeper into surface decoration. This class is for those who already have a studio practice in place or can utilize our open studio schedule. Each week students will arrive with work made outside of class that is ready to be surfaced. Both wheel thrown and hand-built forms are welcome. Each class will cover one or more topics including: carving techniques, resist methods, pattern and image transfer, texturing, stencils, washes, advanced glazing techniques, and more. Students will receive guidance from the instructor on the best application of each technique for their specific work. Although some slabs will be provided for practice, students should be prepared to make a couple pieces, tiles, or slabs each week to bring to class.
