2 Day Tile Making Workshop with Forrest Middelton

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Join Forrest at his own studio, FLM Ceramics (which is in the same space and adjacent to Petaluma Pottery), for an all things tile, two-day workshop. In addition to learning tile basics including rolling slabs, extruding tile, cutting, finishing, and drying tile, Forrest will cover image transfer, and developing your own molds for making tiles. Additionally, students will learn about screen printing in a clay studio and have the chance to print from pre-exisiting screens. We will cover transferring images onto tile in multiple ways, as well as many other surface techniques useful for tile. Forrest has over 15 years of experience working in the handmade tile industry and will give advice and answer questions about his experiences.

MATERIALS AND FIRING
Your class fee includes enough clay to make samples of each of the techniques covered. There are a few basic tools you will need and we will send an email with what you need to bring and other logistics 2-3 weeks prior to class. The class does not include firing, if you’d like for us to bisque fire your tiles we can accommodate that with an additional fee. The timeline for bisque firing may be up to 3 weeks and you’ll need to plan to pick up your pieces or arrange for shipping within the next two weeks.

CANCELLATION POLICY
If you sign up and then are unable to attend for any reason there are no available refunds OR credits unless we can fill your spot with someone on the waitlist, so the sooner you can let us know the better. If we have to fill your spot with someone from the waitlist there is a $20 processing fee to account for our time as well as web fees we can’t recoup. Please note a minimum of 5 people is required for this class to run. If you’ve enrolled and we don’t reach the minimum you will be issued a full refund.
